Vuestras sugerencias y observaciones serán siempre bienvenidas.

Gracias por acompañarme. Os espero en www.telaria.es

///

Today it is a very special day. After months of preparation, the moment has already arrived. This is another step forward, a very important one, in my seamstress life. I get more involved. I definitely enjoy more.

Telaria.es is an on-line shop where you can find renowned Designer  and manufacturer´s fabrics, those that I would have liked to find in the previous months. I spent so much time looking for them, making questions, and talking to distributors, that I finally ended up getting into business. But a part from the economic side of the project, which is absolutely necessary to make it possible, the thing I enjoy the most is to share my passion with other creative spirits.

From today, this blog will be included in the web site, www.telaria.es/blog/
You will still find there my own sewing, but accompanied by other contents, that pretend to be illustrating and inspiring.

I hope you enjoy the selection we start with, which is there just for you. We will welcome any suggestion you may want to make.

Thanks for reading. See you at www.telaria.es

Disfraz de Pájaro. Burda 1/2013. / Blue Bird Costume. Burda 1/2013.3

My proposal for this Carnival celebration, a blue bird costume. I got the inspiration, and the instructions, from the Burda magazine 1/2013, where you can find many costumes, for kids and adults. I had to make something related to the sky, so I went for the bird thing. I took the wings from a parrot costume and the idea for the bodice, a bit long and sleeveless, with "feathers" at the front, came from an owl costume.

I used felt for the whole outfit, which is very easy to work with, and warm. I chose these colors because I wanted to represent a flying bird more than a parrot or similar. I finished the hems with bias tape, and velcro at the back.

It has been real fun sewing this costume, and not particularly difficult, the final result spectacular.

And what has your carnival been like?

This was my first time sewing for babies, and I just loved the feeling of sewing for a delicate body, so tender and fragile. These pieces have been sewn with love and  care. I will do it again no doubt. Just need the opportunity, any other pregnant relatives and friends?

Espejito Espejito, Work in progress.

This is on my sewing department right now. I got hold of "Espejito Espejito nr15" and I liked this proposal for a wool fabric that I cherish from the beginning of autumn. It was supposed to be a warm dress, but it is so warm that it will end up being a coat.

DIY adornos navideños. / DIY Christmas decorations.

I am really wanting to do something like this since last year. And it is great to work with children. They love making pom pons. You can have it ready in a couple of hours. We decided to hang it from main door, but you can use it as a table decoration too, holding some candles or flowers. And it can be re-used again next season.

I am sorry I could not photograph the whole process. However, it is very easy to follow the instructions below and imagine it seeing the result.

Improvisando disfraz de ratón. - Improvising a mouse costume.

He aquí el resultado:

I have always liked costumes. I have taken part of group costumes for carnival or individual costumes, until not many years really. But then everybody around me stopped doing it because they felt we were old enough...  But it is not over yet, not for me. My daughter likes dressing up as much as I do, so I await any opportunity to enjoy it.

Last week she came back from school with a note: she would be a mouse in the xmas concert, and a costume was needed.  I bought a furry fabric in gray, and some pink felt for the details.  But it was not until today that I could do anything.

First idea was to sew a jumpsuit, long legs and long sleeves, and a separate hood with the mouse ears. But this morning I realized I did not have enough fabric! So I had to change idea... I went for a shorts jumpsuit, but I was more concentrate in finishing soon, so i made a few mistakes, so I finally ended up with a minidress with an elastic hem.  That would give the dress more volume at the bottom, and it would make the costume look a bit less like a bear one...

The result in the picture above. I hope this helps you, as a reminder to buy enough fabric, and specially to leave  it open on the back...

Amigo Invisible 2012 - 2012 Secret Santa

The best thing about the blogging community is how much you get back from sharing your time and hopes, somehow your dreams, with other people who are there just for the same reason as you are. Sharing ideas and projects, in our case, is very inspiring on itself, and rewarding. And it is even better when you include children, who can perceive a more friendly world through sharing with others away from thier families and closest friends. Sharing just because.  So when I learnt about the 2012 Secret Santa from La Pantigana, I rushed to join the party. All the presents are for the children, and it has to be handmade by the person giving.  Last years´edition was very successful, and the standars where set up high!

I had already decided to sew the present, and then I knew I had to give to a little girl, my speciality! It is ready now, but I have to be a good girl and keep the secret.  Bur I can show you what it is made of.

I just hope that the little girl it is made for likes it as much as we do¡¡

- First experience with Japanese patterns.

When I started sewing I read a few reviews on japanese pattern books, and I have liked them ever since. I love the perfect look  they have once finished. However, I dind´t dare to try sewing one of them because I felt so unexperienced that I though I would not get that perfect look.  But my moment has come, and not because I feel I am an expert, which I am not, but after  going through patterns and after stitching and unstitching many times, I feel I can survive failure, no fear.
