"Petites Filles Modèles", a por la primera experiencia con patrones japoneses. - First experience with Japanese patterns.

Cuando empecé a coser leí varias reseñas  sobre los patrones japoneses de costura, y me han gustado desde entonces por el acabado delicado y perfecto que presentan las prendas. Pero no los he probado aún porque tenía miedo de que mi poca experiencia costuril no fuese la suficiente para lograr ese acabado.

Ahora no es que me considere una experta en costura, (en realidad experta, lo que se dice experta, como que en casi nada, oye...) pero sí más atrevida, que de tanto descoser lo cosido le he perdido el miedo al fracaso.

When I started sewing I read a few reviews on japanese pattern books, and I have liked them ever since. I love the perfect look  they have once finished. However, I dind´t dare to try sewing one of them because I felt so unexperienced that I though I would not get that perfect look.  But my moment has come, and not because I feel I am an expert, which I am not, but after  going through patterns and after stitching and unstitching many times, I feel I can survive failure, no fear.




Así que me he tirado un par de semanas navegando por internet, buscando los libros disponibles, casi siempre en francés, y me he decidido por dos libros de momento, a los que estoy segura seguirán otros. Ambos son de la editorial francesa Les Editions de Saxe, colección Secrets de Couturiers, por supuesto en francés; no he encontrado traducción a inglés ni a español. Son dos libros de estilos muy distintos, uno de líneas más sencillas y amplias, y otro, el que os presento hoy,  de un estilo un poco más elaborado, con pliegues, mangas mariposa, y cosas por el estilo, pero muy llevable y nada exagerado (para muestra la portada). Su título "Petites Filles Modèles", prendas relajadas y vestidos de princesa, de Yuki Arai.

So, after a couple of weeks browsing here and there, I decided to start my collection ( because I am sure there will be a Japanese Pattern collection on my bookcase!) with two books very different in style. One of them presenting very simple and wide lines, and the other, the one I am posting about today, with more elaborated designs, but still looking simple and very wearable. Both of them are in French and belong to the Secrets de Couturieres  collection, from Les Editions de Saxe, and are exclusive for girls. Sorry for the boys...

This book is titled "Petites Filles Modéles" , Relaxed clothes and princess-like dresses , Yuki Arai is the author.

El libro propone 25 patrones para niñas, de 90 a 130 cm de altura, equivalente al tallaje industrial  de 2 a 8 años. Las instrucciones están en francés, la simbología es la habitual, así que para las que ya estén familiarizadas con otros patrones no será nada complicado interpretar los técnicos.  En el enlace de arriba podéis ver varias fotos del interior del libro. Os subo algunas más (aviso que la calidad no es muy buena, mi cámara no da para más. )

We can find 25 designs for girls, sizes from 90  to 130 cm high, which could be equivalent to sizes from 2 years old to 8 years old. All the book is in French, of course, even the explanations. But the symbols used are the same as in other patterns, so if you are familiar with other patterns, you will probably find no difficulty in reading through the drawings and symbols. In the link above you can see a few pictures of the book. Here you have a few more, sorry for the low quality, that is the best my camera can do.

Este vestido está hecho en género de punto, pero la hechura también es apta para otros géneros de tela. 

This dress is wide enough to be sewn in other than knits, and it is open at the back too.

The explanations are good and clear, with drawings for all the patterns.

Me encantan estos bombers¡¡ Lástima que mi hija sea adicta a las faldas... La camiseta lleva una lazada igual que la que adorna el bolsillo izquierdo del pantalón. 

I love these shorts¡¡ But my daughter is devoted to skirts... This book is all about details, both trousers and tee are adorned with the same ribbon.

Tenemos varios vestidos, sólo uno de manga larga, camisas de manga corta, sin mangas y de tirantes, faldas, pantalones cortos, un mono corto de tirantes, una chaqueta corta de manga francesa que me encanta, un trench bastante mono, también un gorro y hasta un bolso tipo shopper.   Y todos me gustan. Son modelos ponibles, y con muchos detalles de los que hacen que la prenda siente bien a la petite fille  sin robarle libertad de movimiento. Habrá que coserlo para comprobar lo acertado de las tallas y los acabados, pero pinta bien.

There are a few dresses, but only one with long sleeves, many tops with sleeves in different lengths, skirts, shorts, a jumpsuit, a jacket that I love, a cute trench, a hat, and also a shopper bag. I really like all of them. They are very wearable and seem to be thought to be comfortable, without being stiff.

Ya tengo planes para la camiseta de la izquierda, pero con manga larga que es para éste tiempo. Fijáos en el detalle del canesú del vestido.

I already have plans for the t-shirt on the left of the last picture, but I will make a long sleve instead, as I want my daughter to use it during this winter and early spring. Lovely dress too.

Por lo tanto, no me estreno sólo con los patrones, sino también en modificarlos para hacer la manga más larga, y encima a coser género de punto, que también es nuevo para mí. A ver qué tal sale éste experimento. Vosotras seréis testigos privilegiados, prometo un paso a paso. Si sale bien...

So I am not only trying new patterns, but also modifying them  to get a different length sleeve, and also sewing knits for the first time! This will be a very interesting experiment, no doubt. And you will be the first to see if it is a desaster or a success. I commit myself to a tutorial (BIG challenge, how about that?).
